Polling stories

Rasmussen recently polled Maryland likely voters and found Barbara Mikulski won 58% of voters compared to Eric Wargotz’s 33 percent. But the ever-sunny disposition of Eric saw this as, well, not so bad.

Recently, Rasmussen Reports show Senator Mikulski at her weakest point in decades. The poll told us what we have been hearing as we have been traveling the state, people are tired of the one-party control in Washington. Voters want accountability and leadership.

Granted, there’s not much in the way of leadership out of our incumbent Senator, but there’s still that 58 percent roadblock.

  1. First let me begin with stating how much I enjoy your blog! It is one of the few Maryland blogs that I follow regularly.

What makes Barbara’s 58% support number interesting is that she’s dropped considerably with no opposition. In other words, her decline in popularity is not a result of Eric’s campaign or advertising but rather a loss in her own base support. That said, once we get past Labor Day and people start to pay some attention I believe we can work those numbers downwards to 50% or below. That still doesn’t spell a win for Dr. Wargotz but it does give us Maryland Republicans something to fight for.

I believe that we have an opportunity to elect Ehrlich for Governor, Bill Campbell for Comptroller, and Eric Wargotz to US Senate this year if we fire on all cylinders.

Finally, to note in full disclosure, I am assisting the Ehrlich campaign with technology and the Wargotz campaign as a consultant in addition to web and coalitions support. Nevertheless, I believe that my opinion – despite it’s bias – is sound and that working together we could pull off historic returns in November.

    All the best,
    Moshe
